Cruise terminal services and facilities
As the busiest cruise port in Wales, attracting the largest cruise ships in Europe, experienced staff are always on hand to assist with all aspects of a cruise ship visit beforehand, on arrival and whilst in port.
A free shuttle bus to the town centre, shopping area and local attractions, is provided for cruise ship passengers and crew. There is ample car and coach parking at the quayside.
A warm welcome awaits you at the quayside. Passengers and crew can use the dedicated internet suite free of charge, browse in the gift shop for local crafts and gifts or relax on the quayside and chat with our friendly and helpful tourist information team.
Pilotage
- Pilotage is compulsory and available on demand. The short pilotage transit allows vessels to be securely moored within an hour of arriving at the port.
- Holyhead mountain and the 1.3 mile long Breakwater shelter the harbour from prevailing winds. There are no tidal restrictions for cruise ship berthing.
- A harbour tug is available for berthing assistance and a launch service can also be provided.

Security
Security in the port full comprises with ISPS requirements. The port is a major UK passenger ferry port and therefore has the highest standards of port security. The port is covered by a sophisticated digitally recorded CCTV system and a dedicated security team is available on site 24 hours.
