History Gallery

Here you will find an introduction to Anglesey’s history. Find out about the island’s visitors both past and present, the industries that put Anglesey on the map, the wealth of archaeological discoveries, the tragic shipwrecks, and the hunters who gradually changed their ways to become the first farmers of Anglesey.

The Discovery Den offers a range of fun activities for everyone. This is not a dry exhibition, it is rather a place where you can listen, see, smell, take part, touch, play and write.

The Tomb Raiders in Wales 4000 - 3000 BC

Cavemen or just like us? This exhibition, produced by the National Museum of Wales in association with Wrexham County Borough Museum, gives you the chance to find out and to see artefacts from the National Museum Collection.

Anglesey 1939 - 1945

3 July - 24 December 2010

This unique exhibiition will be held at Oriel Ynys Môn this year.

The exhibition will be held from July 3 to December 24, 2010.

An exhibition like this cannot succeed without the support of the people of Anglesey.

If you or members of your family or a friend have any memories – artefacts, pictures and so on – we would love to hear from you.

We would welcome any items that portray the daily life of Anglesey residents during the Second World War - items such as:

Social life, education, food, work, fashion...and so on.
