Walk this way

Bwa Gwyn, near Trearddur Bay

Come forth into the light of things
Let Nature be your teacher.”
William Wordsworth 1770-1850

The great poet might have been inspired to write such words when he scaled the summit of Snowdon to view the mountains and the island of Anglesey.

Wherever you visit on Anglesey you will see a little white figure on a green signpost, inviting you to explore the island’s trails. The signs are everywhere, and so too inevitably, are the trails.

Anglesey boasts 201km of coastline, beaches, dunes, coves, incredible rock formations, harbours, marine and bird conservation areas. Add to that ancient Stone Age and Celtic burial chambers, a medieval castle, lighthouses and magnificent views of Snowdonia. It is all part of Anglesey’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - the largest in Wales. You will find more information on the AONB on the Isle of Anglesey County Council's website -  Isle of Anglesey County Council - AONB.

We are proud of this accolade. But here is the best part. You can walk the length of the coastline, all of it (some 125 miles), or part of it (a few kilometres) …but you will, whatever the distance, invariably view an ever-changing seascape.
For the less sure footed, there is disabled access on certain sections. There is also an abundance of cottages, farmhouses, campsites and B&Bs along the way – because we know you will not stride the entire length in one go.
Many of the routes have been repaired and re-built, and the entire coastal path is managed by a partnership of several enthusiastic organisations. There are leaflets to explain and guide you on your journey.

After all, you would not want to unknowingly pass the site of a transatlantic cable station, or the sites of the countless shipwrecks, or even some of the oldest rocks to be found in the world.

It is one of Nature’s “Theme Parks”, a working landscape and a magnet for
geologists, ornithologists, campers...and those who seek a laptop free environment.

Red squirrels, porpoises, and puffins await you.
